Maharashtra: Three girls died, and a fourth student remains in critical condition after a snake bit six children inside a government-aided ashram school hostel in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district.

Snakebite Incident At Maharashtra Ashram School Hostel

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday while the students were sleeping in the hostel of the primary-secondary residential school in Japtalai village.

Following the incident, the students were initially admitted to a rural hospital before being taken to the District General Hospital in Gadchiroli.

Three girls, aged eight, 12, and 14, succumbed during treatment. While the other three girls continued to receive treatment, the condition of one turned critical. She was subsequently airlifted to GMC Hospital in Nagpur with assistance from the district administration and Gadchiroli police.

Students' Families, Villagers Allege Negligence

Following the incident, the families of the deceased students and local villagers accused the school management of gross negligence, citing poor safety measures and an inadequate initial response.
